Whereas the residents of Perth South wish to clean up the roadsides near their residences but are not able to dispose of the litter due to lack of space in their garbage bins. Whereas Perth South Public Works staff do not have the time or budget to clean up all the roadsides in the municipality but would be able to facilitate disposing of the litter that was dropped off at the township office. Whereas that since April 22, 1970 Earth Day has been observed by 193 countries with a mission to “Think Globally, Act Locally’ and encourages local citizens to create positive change in their area and further that roadside cleanup is easiest to complete in April as the winter melt has happened and the grasses have not yet grown tall. Therefore, be it resolved that the township of Perth South make April 22-26 2024 Roadside community clean up week and direct public works staff to receive bagged roadside litter at the Public Works shop in St. Pauls at no charge to the ratepayers.
